George Lucas hatte seine „Star Wars“-Trilogie von Anfang an als Märchen im Weltall angesehen, als „Space Opera“, wie er selbst oft in Interviews sagte. Miklos Rozsa war übrigens sogar eine Zeit lang von Lucas dafür vorgesehen, „Star Wars“ zu vertonen. Sein Freund Steven Spielberg machte Lucas jedoch mit Williams bekannt- der Rest ist (Film-)Geschichte. Das Soundtrack-Album zu „Star Wars“ verkaufte sich viele Millionen male und machte damit die sinfonische Tradition Hollywoods wieder hoffähig und Williams’ Partitur zur meistgehörten Orchestermusik aller Zeiten. „Star Wars“ ist filmmusikalisch einer der größsten Klassiker überhaupt und somit eine Pflichtanschaffung für jede Sammlung.
